REGISTRATION Complete this form to Pre-Register for a course. Normally 6 or more people are required before a course can be offered. With this in mind please check off a maximum of two of the following courses. One of us will get back to you by e-mail. We welcome your registration and if for some reason you do not hear back from us within a couple of days send an e-mail  to the webmaster directly or call our Squadron phone line (524-SAIL).

BoatPro:- A short Course, (3 - 4 evenings) with a test at the conclusion of the course. A passing grade on the exam will lead to a granting of the Pleasure Craft Operator's Card (P.C.O.C.) which satisfies the CCG requirements of operator competency.

Boating:- Our regular 13-14 week course which also leads to a P.C.O.C. card but also covers information on navigation, anchoring, boat handling, safety and many other topics. (Check out details on Courses page by linking to CPS National webpage.)

Piloting:- A continuation of the navigational components introduced in the Boating Course. (Normally the course runs for approximately 13 weeks and covers topics such as tides and currents. An excellent course for serious boaters who have taken Boating.)

Advanced Piloting:- This course follows the beginnings of serious coastal navigation introduced in the piloting course. (Many other concepts are introduced and this is a very enjoyable, and informative course which runs for at least 13 weeks and you are studying with other interesting and informed boaters). It is expected that candidates will have taken the Piloting Course.

Seamanship Sail:- An elective course for people interested in things such as sailboat racing, as well as learning about the technical aspects of heavy weather sailing, boat rigging, sail trimming. Course normally runs for approximately 12-13 weeks.

Extended Cruising:- A course formerly called Offshore Sailing, deals with planning for longer distance cruising. An excellent preparation for people looking to go further afield in cruising. candidates should have taken Seamanship Sail.

Navigating with GPS:- A short course (3 to 4 evenings) dealing with how to set up and use a hand-held Global Positioning Receiver to use the information available from U.S. satellites to assist in navigation.

VHF Radio (Maritime Radio Course):- A short course leading to qualification for the Restricted Operator's Certificate (Maritime) (with DSC endorsement) required by all boaters who wish to use their VHF Maritime Radio aboard their boat. A very necessary course since there are significant fines for people operating the VHF radio without this certification. The endorsement is required to operate a VHF radio which is equipped with digital selective calling.

Weather:- An elective course which is a real must for boaters, particularly those who want to learn how to obtain weather information and to use that information to avoid dangerous weather and water conditions.

Global Weather:- An advanced weather course designed to help the boater to be able to predict weather in the area where they are operating their boat.

Marine Maintenance:- A great elective course to assist the serious boater to maintain his/her boat in a safe manner.

Marine Electronics:- Another great elective course dealing with how to use and maintain the electronics aboard their vessel. This course deals with the principles of radar, depth sounders, GPS and its use to steer a boat using the autohelm etc.

Celestial Navigation:- An advanced course dealing with the use of the stars, sun. moon and planets for off shore navigation. Candidates should have taken Advanced Piloting.

Instructor Development:- This is a short course, usually over three to four sessions which gives candidates very useful instruction to be able to teach CPS courses effectively.
